Questions

What does the local DNS and HTTP proxy do?

It runs on your Mac and only handles the captive-portal check — the login page a café, hotel, or airport puts in front of the internet. Recorded logins stay in your macOS Keychain. Nothing is sent to an Uncaptive server.

What if a network changes its login?

Uncaptive steps aside and lets you log in yourself, so you are not stuck. If that network is one it had already captured, and the login page shows again, that is also when you get your money back. How refunds work.
